Jiri Berka, a judge from Usti nad Labem accused of a dubious decision in the Union Banka bankruptcy case, has been under arrest since yesterday.

The judge who signed the custody expressed misgivings that Berka could have influence over the other accused. Redemption of the deposits of bankrupted Union Banka clients will begin on May 17.

According to the Ministry of Finance and CNB, the Deposits Protection Fund can start the redemption, which will be carried out through GE Capital bank sales points.

The Deposits Protection Fund is said to have sufficient financial means to appease the claims of all entitled individuals.
