Poll puts CSSD 3% ahead of ODS

The ruling Social Democrats (CSSD) would win elections held now with 33.4% of the vote followed by the major opposition party, the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), with 30.2%, according to a poll taken by the TNS Factum agency for the www.ihned.cz internet server. Both parties greatly improved on their positions from last week.

The Coalition, an election vehicle for the junior opposition Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) and the Freedom Union-Democratic Union (US-DEU) would be third with 14.8%, down by 0.7% as opposed to last week. The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSCM) would be the final party to receive the 5% necessary to win seats in parliament with 13.8%. That is a drop of 1.7% from last week.

The CSSD and the ODS improved their preferences by 6.5 and 4.6% respectively. Parliamentary elections will be held on June14.
